Tax-Savings Programs
What is a tax-savings program?
A pre-tax program is an employee benefit made available to you by your employer and ALTRES to save you money. Instead of paying taxes on all of the money you earn, money that you set aside for eligible expenses is not taxed. You may find that many of your monthly expenses qualify for tax-savings programs. You can apply money to the following on a pre-tax basis:
- Health Care FSA
- Dependent Care FSA
- Pre-Tax Commute Plan
- Medical and Dental premiums
- Supplemental insurance
The Comparison Chart highlights key points of the available tax-saving programs. Click here to see a list of eligible and ineligible Health Care FSA expenses.
How much money are we talking about?
Everybody’s situation differs, but here’s an example of a single person earning a $26,400 annual salary.

That's $150 more spendable income each month and $1800 more spendable income each year!
