Personnel Spotlight: Meet Michele Kauinui

Meet Michele Kauinui Director of Human Resources at simplicityHR by ALTRES

This month we’d like to introduce you to Director of HR Services, Michele Kauinui. Michele began her career with simplicityHR by ALTRES as an HR Specialist over 13 years ago and is now bringing her extensive education and experience of human resources to oversee the simplicityHR human resources department.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I was born and raised on Oahu. After high school, I attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management and International Business. I spent a few years gaining HR experience in the hospitality industry before deciding to go back to school. I was part of the first Masters of Human Resource Management (MHRM) cohort at UH Manoa. That’s where I first learned about Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs), which eventually led me to simplicityHR!

Describe your role as the Director of HR Services at simplicityHR.

A typical day in the office is very fast-paced and dynamic. I work with an amazing staff of HR professionals out of our Honolulu, Maui, and Kona offices. Every single team member strives to provide the highest level of HR support and service to our clients and their employees, which makes for a great work environment! It’s rewarding to be able to consult with clients on best practices and provide practical, creative HR solutions for businesses of all sizes and industries.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Having three young children who participate in a lot of extracurricular activities keeps me and my husband on the go—of course, they’re my pride and joy! In addition to spending time with family, I enjoy traveling; yoga, when I have the rare opportunity; running events; dining out (especially for dessert), and celebrating special occasions with close friends.
