Meet Theresa Munekata, simplicityHR Manager

In this Personnel Spotlight, we’d like to introduce Theresa Munekata, simplicityHR by ALTRES Maui Branch Manager. Theresa joined the ALTRES ohana nearly 16 years ago as an HR Specialist and brings her extensive knowledge of HR and PEOs (or Professional Employer Organizations) to her role. The Maui native is also a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I was actually born in Maui and lived here for about 6 years before moving to Oahu. I received a bachelor’s degree in HR and marketing from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and started with ALTRES shortly after graduating. I worked briefly in the Benefits department before transferring to the HR department as an HR Specialist. It’s been almost 16 years since then and I’m happy to be back in Maui serving as the simplicityHR Branch Manager.

What is your role at simplicityHR by ALTRES? Describe a typical day on the job.

As the Branch Manager of the simplicityHR Maui branch, I oversee a staff of about 10 employees and together we work with clients to provide a variety of HR, payroll, and benefits administration services. I put my HR background to work by providing clients with strategic and operational HR consulting services.

How does HR outsourcing help Hawaii businesses?

What do you like to do in your spare time?

If I’m not traveling or out hiking, you can find me curled up with a good crossword or jigsaw puzzle. And I have a passion for good food–needless to say I love to eat!
